Can NotebookLM Import a Whole YouTube Channel?

Short answer: no — one video at a time

As of mid-2026, Google's NotebookLM accepts YouTube videos as sources, but only as individual video URLs, added one at a time. There is no "add channel" or "add playlist" import, sources per notebook are capped, and what it stores is a transcript snapshot from the moment you added the link — it does not update when the creator uploads new videos.

For a channel with 300+ videos, that means pasting hundreds of URLs by hand into a tool that wasn't designed to hold them, and re-doing the exercise every time new videos come out.

When NotebookLM is the right tool anyway

To be fair to it: NotebookLM is free, made by Google, and genuinely good when your source material is a handful of specific videos plus documents. If you're studying five lectures and a PDF, use NotebookLM — importing a whole channel would be overkill. The gap appears when the thing you want to query is a creator's entire catalog: their positions, their recurring advice, the one video where they covered your exact question.

Searching for this usually leads to three workarounds, none of which solve it:

• Pasting video URLs one by one. Works up to the source cap, costs hours, goes stale immediately.
• Exporting transcripts with a script, uploading as text files. Now you're running scripts and maintaining a pipeline — and it still doesn't sync new uploads.
